SCYA Midwinters at Cal Yacht Club

Great weekend in Marina del Rey racing for Midwinters. We finished third overall. Results here (actually a link to the facebook updates, but results are there, too). We had a couple great starts but couldn't quite keep pace with Dark Star. "Like" Joysailing on facebook for pictures. Fun to be Dhuing one-design again!

Skian Dhu is headed to the boatyard for 6 weeks. Should be ready in time for Yachting Cup. Go Skian Dhu!

Hot Rum #2

The storm passed through Friday night and left a breezy Saturday for Hot Rum #2. While rigging the boat at the slip we were seeing gusts up to 30 knots.  We started about 26 minutes after the first boat (reverse handicap) and made our way up to D mark with big gusts continuing. We ended up tearing our main sail just after the second weather rounding, and finished the race with only the jib.

2012 Hot Rum #1

Light but fun!
Great turnout for Hot Rum #1. Course was a little over 3 and 1/2 miles and we were settling into our second place finish when our good friends on Taxi Dancer hooked a crab pot and we were able to sail past them and take the win.

Beautiful day on the water. Skian Dhu had a great day and won the event. Here are some pictures.

Holiday Regatta 12/3-4

Two day Holiday Regatta kicks off today with the warning at noon. Rumor has it the new Farr 400 will be part of A Fleet along with Taxi Dancer and Katana. Should make for a fun day on the water. Forecasters expect a breezy day. We'll be watching from the deck and will take some pictures.
